Florence Eliza Snidow

Florence Eliza Snidow was a Virginia native born in the early 1870s and died in 1972. She was the daughter of Major John Chapman Snidow (1839–1876) and his wife Nannie “Anne” Eliza (Hoge) Snidow. In 1891 Florence married her cousin John Thompson Sayers Hoge (b. 9 Oct 1861, d. 28 Sep 1938) of Wheatland, Giles County, VA. They lived at “Wheatland” (the Hoge family estate near Pembroke) and later in Blacksburg/Lynchburg. The couple had six children (Joseph Haven Hoge Sr. b.1892, Nannie Sue Hoge b.1895, Chapman Snidow Hoge b.1896, John T.S. Hoge Jr. b.1900, William Tyler Hoge b.1902, Isabelle “Hume” Hoge b.1904). Florence died 12 February 1972 (in Salem/Roanoke, VA) at age ~99.
