George Davis Vick
George Vick married Annie Hoge, Beverly Lacy Hoge’s oldest daughter. He grew up in Selma, NC, where he graduated from Selma High School and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He began his practice in Selma and became a leading physician. He was a surgeon for the Southern and Atlantic Coast Line Railroads and served on the board for many years.
Selma was the birthplace of Vick Chemical Company by one of the early businessmen, L. Richardson, where he patented the world-famous product, Vick’s Pneumonia Cure, which he named after his uncle, Dr. Joshua Vick, George’s dad.
